This Privacy Policy explains how Sauce Essentials ("Sauce," "we," "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you visit this website or interact with our product-verification and email services. By using the site, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

• Age confirmation. When you confirm you are 21+ at our age gate, we store a cookie recording that confirmation so we don't ask again.
• Verification codes. When you verify a product, we process the one-time code you enter. Codes are stored in hashed form to detect re-use and counterfeits.
• Email address. If you opt into product authenticity confirmations, the newsletter, event alerts, or (if under 21) a "remind me at 21" message, we store your email and the source of the signup.
• Form submissions. Contact, wholesale, counterfeit-report, and careers forms collect the details you choose to provide (such as name, email, business, and your message).

Information collected automatically

• Device & usage data such as browser type, pages viewed, and referring pages, used to keep the site working and improve it.
• Approximate location only if you choose "Use my location" in the store locator. We do not track your location in the background.
• Hashed technical identifiers. Where we log a submission, we store a one-way hash of your IP address and user-agent for security and abuse-prevention — not your raw IP.

2. How we use information

• To verify product authenticity and flag counterfeits.
• To show you nearby licensed dispensaries in the store locator.
• To send the emails you opted into, and to honor "remind me at 21" requests.
• To respond to your messages and process wholesale or career inquiries.
• To secure the site, prevent abuse, and comply with cannabis-industry regulations.

3. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

• Service providers who run parts of the site on our behalf — for example Klaviyo (email delivery) and Google Maps (the store locator). These providers process data under their own terms and only as needed to provide their service.
• Regulators & law enforcement where required by law, or to share verified counterfeit reports with state cannabis authorities.
• A successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

4. Cookies

We use essential cookies (age-gate confirmation, your verification session) and limited analytics. We don't run third-party advertising trackers. See our Cookies Policy for detail and controls.

5. Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law. "Remind me at 21" records are deleted shortly after the reminder is sent. Email subscriptions persist until you unsubscribe.

6. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to opt out of certain processing. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know what we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and to not be discriminated against for exercising those rights. Because we do not sell or "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, there is no opt-out of sale to exercise.

7. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards — including hashing of verification codes and technical identifiers — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to keep what we hold safe.

8. Children

This site and our products are strictly for adults 21 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21 except an email address voluntarily provided for a one-time "remind me when I turn 21" message.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our practices or the law evolve. We'll revise the "Effective" date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice.
